I passed through three natural limestone caves — Hang Ca, Hang Hai, and Hang Ba — which is where the name Tam Coc (meaning ‘three caves’) comes from. These caves are highlights of many Ninh Binh cave tours, offering a serene glide through the heart of the karst landscape. We chose Route 2 (about 2.5 hours), which included a stop at Vu Lam Palace—a hidden military base during the Tran Dynasty. Stepping onto the stone path felt like walking into the past, with moss-covered walls and incense in the air.
